TURF MANAGEMENT

Certificate

The Turf Management certificate prepares students for positions with home lawn care companies, golf courses, and sport complexes. Coursework focuses on the proper selection, installation, and maintenance of both residential and utility turf areas. Topics included are turfgrass physiology, fertilizing, aeration, renovation, mowing, and irrigation. Common turf insects and diseases are identified.

Matt Springer“We’ve had John Wood program graduates and interns. They’re very good and very knowledgeable. The program gives them a good general overview of horticulture and soils, so we build on that knowledge and fine-tune it for our specific situation. They’re excited and are ready to go to work with very little supervision. To them it’s not a job – it’s a career. John Wood has a good program, whether you want a degree or just a few classes.”
